Tamil Nadu Assembly Mandates 'Tamil Thai Vazhthu' at State Events

Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay is expected to move a resolution on August 10, 2026, mandating the rendition of the state song 'Tamil Thai Vazhthu' at all public events.

The resolution requires the song to be played at educational institutions, government offices, and public sector undertakings, reinforcing the 1970 and 2021 state government orders.

This move follows a July 9 letter from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs requesting strict compliance with a January 28 directive to play 'Vande Mataram' before the National Anthem.
