The Supreme Court on Thursday stayed the execution of death penalty of Indian Mujahideen operative Ahmed Bawa in the 2008 Ahmedabad serial bomb blasts case.
A Bench of Justices Vikram Nath, A. G. Masih, and Sandeep Mehta issued notice to the Gujarat government on the plea challenging the High Court verdict.
The High Court had previously upheld the death sentence of 38 operatives for the 2008 blasts that left 56 people dead and over 200 injured.
