India Test-Fires First Fully Indigenous AK-203 'Sher' Rifle

India successfully manufactured and test-fired its first 100% indigenous AK-203 assault rifle, named 'Sher', at the Amethi ordnance facility in Uttar Pradesh.

This milestone marks a significant shift in India's defence strategy, moving away from reliance on imports for standard-issue infantry weaponry.

The Amethi factory is now fully operational, with plans to scale production to meet the requirements of the Indian Armed Forces in the coming months.
