Parliament Uproar Over 'Shuddhikaran' Ritual Following Kharge's Rally

Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge condemned a 'shuddhikaran' (purification) ritual performed at Haldwani’s Ramlila Ground after his public address on August 8.

Rajya Sabha Leader of the House J.P. Nadda expressed regret, apologized for the incident, and promised an investigation by the BJP into the claims of caste-based discrimination.

Kharge demanded that a case be registered under the Untouchability Offences Act against those involved in the ritual, which allegedly occurred because he is a Dalit.
