Haryana Electricity Employees Strike Against 25-Year Private Discom Licence

Haryana power employees began a three-day Statewide strike on Thursday to protest the HERC granting Eleven Power a 25-year parallel distribution licence in Gurugram and Nuh.

The HERC order under Section 14 allows over 8.3 lakh consumers in the region to choose between two discoms, projected to grow from 12,220 to 18,224 million units by FY 2031.

Haryana Power Minister Anil Vij stated the State will contest the autonomous body's move before the Appellate Tribunal for Electricity, while unions allege it undermines state-owned discoms.
