A data breach at the Central Board of Film Certification left hundreds of confidential applications, shooting scripts, and censor cut lists exposed online through the Internet Archive.
The exposed records, originating from the e-Cinepramaan portal between December 2025 and August 2026, included commercially sensitive film distribution agreements detailing licensing fees and creative control terms.
The compromised data was removed on October 12 after the user deleted their account, prompting an official investigation by CBFC chairperson Shashi Shekhar Vempati.
