The death toll from the ongoing floods in Assam has risen to 97 as of August 7, 2026, with 1.68 lakh people across 15 districts currently battling severe inundation.
Approximately 481 villages remain submerged, and the state government has announced a door-to-door assessment of flood damage to be conducted from August 9 to August 30.
