Remand Prisoner Escapes Theni District Jail After Staging Epileptic Seizure

Prasanth alias Linga Prasanth, a 25-year-old differently abled remand prisoner at the Theni district jail in Tamil Nadu, escaped custody after orchestrating a plan with fellow inmates on October 26.

Prasanth was frustrated because he could not arrange a surety bond despite securing bail. Cellmate Silambarasan suggested faking an epileptic seizure to execute the breakout.

All 17 inmates in the cell agreed to the plan, and several raised a fake medical alarm at around 10.30 p.m. to distract authorities.
