
Legendary actress Sankaramanchi Janaki, widely known as 'Sowcar' Janaki, died at a private hospital in Chennai on Friday at the age of 94.
Her prolific career spanned seven decades and included performances in over 400 films across Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada languages, beginning with her 1950 debut Shavukaru.
A recipient of the 2022 Padma Shri award, she is survived by three children, four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, with her final screen appearance in the 2023 film Anni Manchi Sakunamule.
