The Maharashtra Highway Police urged motorists to use alternative routes to avoid severe traffic congestion on National Highway 48 due to ongoing farmer protests at the Kognoli toll plaza.
The agitating farmers began their demonstration on Tuesday morning demanding higher sugarcane and ethanol prices, affecting interstate traffic towards Belagavi and Bengaluru.
Authorities have requested Google Maps to mark the affected highway stretch as blocked and released specific alternate route advisories for passenger and heavy vehicles.
