Tamil Nadu Directorate of Public Health says dengue spread is normal

The Tamil Nadu Directorate of Public Health and Preventive Medicine stated that the spread of dengue in the state this year is neither unusual nor alarming.

Official data indicates that 16,334 persons were affected and nine deaths were reported up to September 16, 2026, compared to 15,688 cases and 13 deaths during the same period in 2025.

Health authorities have intensified vector control operations, established fever wards, and urged the public to prevent water stagnation in domestic containers.
