Akali leader and former MP Prem Singh Chandumajra resigned from SAD (Punar Surjit) on Wednesday, dealing a blow to Giani Harpreet Singh's breakaway faction.
Chandumajra is likely to return to the Sukhbir Singh Badal-led Shiromani Akali Dal ahead of the Punjab assembly polls.
SAD welcomed his resignation and urged all separated Panthic leaders to unite under the party umbrella.
