Around eight people were killed and 15 others injured when a minibus carrying 23 passengers plunged into a 15-foot-deep drain along the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Kota district on Saturday.

Authorities suspect the driver fell asleep at the wheel, causing the vehicle to veer off the eight-lane road near pole number 384 at around 6 a.m.

The injured passengers were rushed to the New Medical College Hospital and the MBS Hospital, where medical teams provided primary stabilisation and conducted emergency investigations.
