The Directorate of Enforcement conducted searches at five premises in Bengaluru as part of a money-laundering probe into a counterfeit medicines racket.
The agency froze a bank account containing approximately ₹9 lakh belonging to an accused named Veeresh Kumar under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
Investigators allege that generic medicines were fraudulently relabelled with Pfizer antibiotic brand names such as Zavicefta and Emblaveo and distributed via pharmaceutical suppliers.
