US and Denmark Sign Deal Giving Washington Permanent Security Control Over Greenland

The United States and Denmark have agreed on a pact granting Washington permanent control over Greenland's security to bar Russia and China from setting up bases.

The agreement prohibits US adversaries from maintaining military presence or making sensitive investments in the Arctic territory without express written approval.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and Greenland Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen hailed the deal, which is set to be signed next week at the UN General Assembly.
