Chief Justice of India Surya Kant stated on Saturday that child drug abuse must be treated as a child protection issue rather than solely a public health concern.
Quoting an August 2026 Lancet study estimating over one in five Indian teenagers are at moderate-to-high risk, the CJI stressed the importance of dignity and confidentiality in rehabilitation.
CJI Kant made the remarks during a Patna seminar, later participating in an open-house dialogue with law students at Chanakya National Law University.
