The Maharashtra Revenue Department constituted a nine-member Special Investigation Team headed by the Konkan Divisional Commissioner to probe a 1960s land allotment to Premier Automobiles.

The inquiry examines allegations that cattle-grazing land in Kalyan taluka allotted for industrial purposes was subsequently converted into premium real estate and sold to developers.

The SIT must submit a detailed final report with its recommendations to the government in the first week of October 2026.
