Kerala Health Minister K Muralidharan expressed dissatisfaction over Aravana prasadam shortages at Sabarimala and questioned the Travancore Devaswom Board for undertaking plant renovation while the hill shrine remained open to devotees.
The minister noted that renovation work is normally carried out when the temple is closed, warning that such logistical issues during peak footfall raise serious questions about preparedness.
Muralidharan stated that while the government lacks direct authority to act against the autonomous board without court intervention, the administration and ministers in charge share joint political accountability.
