The US State Department reiterated its Level 4 Do Not Travel advisory for Russia amid reported pneumonic plague fears following a researcher's death in Irkutsk.
Daria Shipilova, a researcher at the Irkutsk Anti-Plague Institute, died on October 1 after contacting a live bacterium, prompting quarantine measures for 200 contacts.
The World Health Organization reported that the possible plague case presents very low risk outside Russia and found no dangerous pathogens in contacts tested.
