India Building Indigenous 'AI Spine' for Armed Forces, Says Defence Secretary

Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh stated that India is actively developing an indigenous AI spine for its armed forces to enhance future warfare capabilities.

Initial applications of AI compute capacity were tested during Operation Sindoor, India's counterstrike against terrorist havens in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir.

While internal debates considered partnering with global analytics firms like Palantir, the government decided to build the critical infrastructure independently with domestic industry partners.
