New research published in The Lancet Public Health indicates that women with multiple pre-existing physical or mental health conditions face a 20% higher risk of miscarriage during pregnancy.
The study analyzed over 2.2 million pregnancies recorded between 2000 and 2022 across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland to assess antenatal health outcomes.
Findings reveal that women with two or more conditions have a four-fold risk of anxiety and depression, while those with three or more conditions face a 3.5-fold risk of venous thromboembolism.
