China expelled former Central Military Commission vice-chairman Zhang Youxia and former chief of staff Liu Zhenli from the Communist Party and military.
The removal was approved at a Politburo meeting chaired by President Xi Jinping, citing corruption, disloyalty, and serious disciplinary breaches.
The expulsions leave only two active figures on the seven-member military command body alongside President Xi Jinping.
