
China has stripped General Zhao Zongqi, former Western Theatre Command chief, of his membership in the CPPCC and dismissed him from two other key political advisory posts.
Zhao oversaw the 2017 Doklam standoff and the 2020 Galwan Valley clash, with US intelligence reports alleging he authorized the Galwan operation to teach India a lesson.
The removal follows a broader purge of the PLA leadership, including the recent dismissal of generals Zhang Youxia and Liu Zhenli from the state Central Military Commission for discipline violations.
