The Tamil Nadu government announced the establishment of seven new government nursing colleges to add 660 undergraduate BSc Nursing seats annually.

Six colleges with 100 seats each will be set up in Namakkal, Tiruchirappalli, Dharmapuri, Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, and Tirunelveli at a cost of ₹270.26 crore.

A seventh college with 60 seats will open at Coimbatore Government Medical College, utilizing existing facilities for the current academic year.
