Ebola Outbreak in DR Congo Claims Over 4,000 Lives

The ongoing Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo's Ituri province has resulted in over 4,000 deaths, with women and children disproportionately affected.

UNICEF reports that children account for nearly one-third of all fatalities, while maternal deaths in the region have nearly doubled since the start of the crisis.

Health authorities have deployed 13,000 community workers to reach 2.4 million people with prevention messages, as healthcare service usage in Ituri has dropped by more than 40 percent.
