India Successfully Test-Fires First 100% Indigenous AK-203 'Sher' Rifle

India has successfully test-fired its first fully indigenous AK-203 'Sher' assault rifle at the Amethi manufacturing facility on August 23.

The rifle, developed to replace imported variants, marks a major milestone in the government's 'Make in India' initiative for the defence sector.

Production is expected to scale up immediately, with the factory aiming to supply the Indian Army with thousands of units by the end of 2026.
