Biometric Aadhaar authentication mandatory for subsidized LPG from Oct 1

Biometric Aadhaar Authentication will become mandatory starting October 1 for households to continue receiving subsidized domestic LPG refills.

Consumers who fail or refuse to complete eKYC will lose access to 14.2 kg subsidized cylinders and will instead only receive 5 kg or 10 kg free-trade cylinders at market prices.

As of September 19, approximately 27.43 crore or 89.9% of active domestic LPG consumers across India have successfully completed their biometric authentication.
