The Nifty 50 fell 6.3% in September, marking its worst monthly performance for the month since 2001 amid rising crude prices and higher bond yields.
The index tested the 22,600 to 22,580 region near its 200-week moving average before staging a partial recovery.
Analysts note that a decisive break below 22,580 could expose the benchmark index to further correction towards 22,400.
