Defending champions India bounced back from their Round 6 defeat to edge past England 2.5-1.5 in Round 7 of the 2026 Chess Olympiad in Samarkand.

R Praggnanandhaa defeated Nikita Vitiugov and D Gukesh won against Daniel Howard Fernandez to secure the match victory for India.

In the women's section, India defeated Germany 3.5-0.5 with wins from Koneru Humpy, Savitha Shri B, and Divya Deshmukh to move into third place.
