Automobile dealers cautioned that recent vehicle price hikes by major carmakers could erode the benefits of last year's GST cuts ahead of the festive season.
According to Fada data, vehicle retail sales in the first half of FY27 rose 20.77% year-on-year to 15.51 million units, driven largely by consumer affordability.
Major manufacturers including Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Hyundai, and Mahindra have implemented multiple price hikes this year to offset rising supply chain and global logistics costs.
