Africa CDC Reports Rapid Ebola Spread in DR Congo

The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention reported that the Ebola outbreak in eastern Congo has reached 6,843 total cases and 3,310 deaths as of Thursday.

New cases in North Kivu province more than doubled to 381 in the latest three-week period, while the virus has now spread to two additional health zones amid ongoing regional conflict.

Congo has received 70,000 vaccine doses to date, with clinical trials for the Bundibugyo virus underway and vaccination campaigns expanding to newly affected provinces including Tshopo and Haut-Uele.
