Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan was returned to Adiala jail early Friday after a brief medical examination at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).

Although the Supreme Court ordered a transfer to Shifa International Hospital by midnight Thursday, authorities cited security concerns for the diversion to PIMS, where Khan was declared medically fit.

Khan, 73, has been imprisoned since August 2023 and remains in detention pending his next court hearing scheduled for September 16.
