Paris police issue overnight curfew in two areas following riots

Paris police issued an overnight curfew for the Place de la République and the Les Halles shopping neighbourhood to prevent further disorder.

The curfew is effective from 11 pm on Monday until 6 am on Tuesday, while gatherings and demonstrations are banned starting from 8 pm.

The measure follows a weekend of severe rioting across France that resulted in more than 1,200 arrests and over 150 injured police officers.
