Ritabrata-led TMC camp names candidates for Bengal bypolls

The rebel Trinamool Congress faction led by Ritabrata Banerjee named Mohammad Eteshamul Haque for Nandigram and Safiuzzaman Sheikh for Rejinagar for the October 6 byelections.

The decision marks the first major electoral test for the rival faction after the TMC split following the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections.

Both factions seek to establish themselves as the legitimate political successor of the TMC while the BJP watches the division.
