Cricket Australia has approved a plan to introduce private investment into the Big Bash League, starting with the sale of the Melbourne Renegades.

The Renegades are expected to operate under new private ownership by the 2027-28 season, following a formal bidding process initiated by the board.

Cricket Australia will retain control over critical operations, including international scheduling, player availability, salary caps, and the approval of all potential investors.
