Veteran actor Susmita Mukherjee admitted on Instagram that she accepted roles in sexist, C-grade films to repay a ₹1 crore debt following the 2002 bankruptcy of her family production house.
The financial crisis, which involved Prayas Productions, forced the actor to work relentlessly for 3-4 years to clear liabilities and fund her daughter's education in Australia and New Zealand.
Mukherjee, known for films like Khalnayak and King Uncle, stated she has no regrets about her past choices as they ensured her family's financial stability and her children's future.
