A donor traveled 300 km from Chikkamagaluru to Dharwad to provide a unit of rare Bombay blood to a three-year-old boy in critical condition.
The child, suffering from an inherited bleeding disorder, required the specific phenotype because patients with this blood type lack the 'H' antigen.
The Swami Vivekananda Blood Donors Foundation coordinated the search after an appeal from the child's father, Mahantesh.
