BSP's Lone Uttar Pradesh MLA Umashankar Singh Dies at 55

Umashankar Singh, the sole Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) legislator in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, passed away on August 6, 2026, following a prolonged battle with cancer.

Aged 55, Singh was a prominent figure in UP politics, and his death leaves a significant void in the BSP's legislative representation in the state.

BSP chief Mayawati paid her final respects in Lucknow, acknowledging his contributions to the party and his dedicated service as a three-time MLA.
