Four women died and several passengers were injured when a private bus carrying 54 villagers overturned on the Ananthagiri ghat road in Vikarabad district on Saturday, with brake failure suspected as the cause.
The passengers were travelling from Kesaram village in Patancheru to Chintakunta village to attend a funeral when the driver reportedly lost control on the downhill stretch of the hills.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expressed shock and directed officials to provide quality medical treatment to the injured, while Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar spoke with local authorities to review rescue efforts.
