Danish composer Jesper Kyd reflected on creating the otherworldly sonic landscape for the Indian folk-horror film Tumbbad ahead of its anniversary.
Directed by Rahi Anil Barve and Adesh Prasad, Tumbbad premiered in the Critics’ Week at the 75th Venice International Film Festival before its October 2018 theatrical release.
Kyd utilized unconventional playing techniques on the cymbalom and manipulated acoustic instruments to produce a distinct primordial sound for the cult classic.
