
Commonwealth Games 2026 gold medalist Asmita Dey has called for increased government support and funding to help Indian judokas train at international facilities.
Dey, who secured India's first-ever judo gold at the Games, emphasized that consistent overseas training is essential for athletes to remain competitive at the upcoming Asian Games.
Following her historic win, Tripura MP Biplab Kumar Deb felicitated Dey in Delhi, acknowledging her contribution to India's record-breaking medal tally of 39 at the 2026 event.
