The Centre reduced the basic customs duty on several edible oils, with the changes effective from September 24 as notified by the finance ministry.
The duty on crude soybean oil and crude palm oil was cut from 10% to 5%, while refined soybean and palm oil dropped from 32.5% to 27.5%.
The duty on crude sunflower oil was abolished from 10% to nil, and refined sunflower oil was lowered from 32.5% to 22.5% to ease consumer prices.
