Bangladesh Launches Emergency Measles Vaccination Drive Amid Deadly Outbreak

Bangladesh launched a month-long nationwide measles-rubella vaccination campaign on Saturday targeting 3.4 million missed children amid a severe outbreak.

Authorities lowered the minimum vaccination age from nine months to six months as the outbreak has caused over 1,000 deaths and tens of thousands of infections.

Health experts attributed the crisis to routine immunization disruptions during 2024 and 2025 political turmoil, which left numerous infants vulnerable alongside a seasonal dengue surge.
