Homer-Center School District has delayed the start of the 2026-27 academic year due to the discovery of mold in elementary school classrooms.
Superintendent Ralph Cecere Jr. confirmed the presence of elevated aspergillus spores, attributing the issue to prolonged humidity levels throughout the summer months.
The district has tentatively rescheduled the first day of school for Tuesday, September 1, 2026, pending professional cleaning and safety verification of the affected areas.
