A 25-year-old Polish citizen with ultra-nationalistic views opened fire with an automatic weapon in Krakow's Main Square, killing four women and two men and wounding 16 people on Saturday.
The heavily armed perpetrator, who wore military-style fatigues and a bulletproof vest, was shot and wounded by police during a gunfight and taken to the hospital for surgery.
Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz condemned the shooting as an act of terror, while Krakow mayor Łukasz Gibała announced that the city will remain in official mourning until Wednesday.
