
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay announced on September 2, 2026, that all cases filed against farmers and teachers during the previous DMK regime will be withdrawn.
The pending cases, which date back to the period between May 2021 and 2026, involved protests against projects such as SIPCOT industrial developments and the proposed Parandur airport.
Law Minister Nirmal Kumar confirmed the government is also considering similar demands from the CPI and PMK to drop cases against individuals who protested against NEET and the Neyveli Lignite Corporation.
