The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear on October 27 a plea seeking to transfer a public interest litigation from the Delhi High Court concerning the status of the song 'Vande Mataram'.
A bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana will take up the petition filed by advocate Ashwini Upadhyay.
The petitioner contends that the song should be given equal status to the national anthem and that the executive must frame a national policy to promote and propagate it.
