Bangladesh is considering joining the new Saudi Arabia-Pakistan-Turkey defence bloc, known as the Mecca Pact, which was officially signed by the three nations on August 7.
While Dhaka has not confirmed its participation, state ministers indicated a positive approach, provided the collective deterrence arrangement aligns with Bangladesh's national interests.
Experts warn that Bangladesh's inclusion would provide the bloc a strategic foothold on India's eastern flank, potentially complicating bilateral ties between New Delhi and Dhaka.
