Centre establishes four-member panel to examine sugarcane farmers' grievances

The Union Government formed a four-member panel headed by former NITI Aayog member Ramesh Chand to examine issues raised by sugarcane farmers from Karnataka and Maharashtra.

The committee will evaluate cultivation costs, demands for revising the ex-mill Minimum Selling Price of sugar, and sugar recovery testing mechanisms at mills.

The panel will consult stakeholders including farmers, sugar mill associations, and State Governments before submitting its findings and recommendations to the competent authority.
