Plano ISD Parents Protest Changes to Band Halftime Performances

Plano ISD has moved sub-varsity band and drill team halftime performances to pre- or post-game slots to comply with UIL District 7-6A parameters and a 20-minute halftime limit.

Parents argue the changes, which limit halftime performances to eight minutes for non-district games, diminish the student experience by separating unified performances and reducing crowd engagement.

The district maintains that the new schedule preserves performance opportunities for 9th and 10th graders while addressing concerns regarding referee retention and the physical consistency of student-athletes.
